This is a mod for RailRoad Tycoon 3 which adds a new car type to carry Iron. created by Michael Rountree http://wpandp.com/RRtycoon.html Installation instructions: First, be sure to back up the "Iron-" files that will be overwritten by the following procedure. Extract the ZIP file and then move or copy the files into their proper locations. The following files go into your game's Data\CargoTypes folder: Iron.cty (BACKUP FIRST!) The following files go into your game's Data\EngineTypes folder: Hiron.cct HironA.cgo HironA.car HironB.cgo HironB.car HironC.cgo HironC.car HironD.cgo HironD.car HironX.car HironX.cgo HironZ.car HironZ.cgo All other files go into you game's Data\UserExtraContent folder. With this properly installed, your Iron will be loaded into short ore jennies, which were shorter than typical hoppers due to the greater density of the hematite or taconite they carried. It won't look any different from the default "hopper" until 1877, when a wood-sided gondola lettered for Pennsy shows up. From then on, the ore hopper stays the same length, because the spacing of the ore docks was based on the early cars, and so the overall coupled length was kept constant. The "Z" era car is really just a placeholder, as the D-era car is still in use today; I include it because it has a greater weight. In the real world the 70-ton ore jennies had their sides extended upwards, and rated for 90 tons. Please note that any saved games you have will retain whatever train consists were on the rails when you saved, so you won't see these modded cars until after those trains visit a station and load up new cars. Please note that some of the car bodies exhibit a mirror-image (backwards) skin on one side of the car; this is due to how the original 3DP file was created, and there is no way around it, other than to refrain from using lettering and logos, which I don't want to do. Finally, if you are keeping your backup files within the same folder (i.e. just renaming "Iron.cty" to "IronBackup.cty") then things might not work properly. I strongly recommend keeping all your backups somewhere else. If you enjoy using this mod, feel free to let me know! paranoid@wpandp.com
