HOPPER YARD Custom Building Mod for Railroad Tycoon 3 by Michael Rountree http://wpandp.com/RRtycoon.html This mod creates a new lineside structure that the player can build. It is a rail yard, which has a partial demand for the loads which get carried in hoppers (Bauxite, Coal, and Iron). What this enables is the movement of such loads across further distances, making up for the lack of "drop-shipping" by creating a relay station of sorts. Build it within a station's coverage radius, and it will attract those loads towards it, and generate a commodity price that is higher than at the mine, yet lower than at the consuming industry (mill). You can place multiple yards in series, too, to help loads move in a general direction towards a remote consumer. This will enable division-points, with engine assignments more appropriate for the terrain. For instance, you can place a Hopper Yard at the base of the mountains, and use heavy but slow engines like the Shay to collect the ore from the mine, then drop it off at the Yard. Then, out in the flatter land, a faster engine can take over and move the loads from the Yard to the final destination. This concept can be applied to other loads, as well, and it is my intention to develop StockYards, Grain Elevators, Icing Platforms, and more to cover all the other major load categories. Note that this structure will help immensely with any scenarios that require delivery of a certain number of a given cargo; hopefully it won't break those scenarios, just aid you a little bit. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Unzip the ZIP file you downloaded, and then place the files in their proper folders. The BCA and BTY files go into the RRT3/Data/BuildingTypes folder, and the PK4 file goes into RRT3/Data/UserExtraContent. I would appreciate any feedback you might have!
