Mountaineering (Engineering a Mountain)

In the Autumn of 2012, I decided that it was time to start grading the Right-Of-Way further west than Winchester… By adding in a curved trestle, and putting the right vertical emphasis into the terrain forms, I figured it could become something so much more, and really sell the layout in a “best foot forward” sense.

Capon Bridge Photos

Here are some more shots of Capon Bridge, which is my drop-leaf segment at the entry into my layout. It is entirely scratchbuilt, aside from the plate girders which came from an Atlas kit.

Bridges in the Works

I’ve been working on building a multi-span steel bridge that runs across the lift-out section that forms the entry into the staging yard. This is where the scenery starts, so while this particular bridge doesn’t represent any specific location on the mainline, I figured it needs to look like a finished portion of the layout proper.
